Vera Pereira

An Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, Portuguese bassist Vera Pereira is presently Principal Bassist at the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, orchestra of the Birmingham Royal Ballet. She also performs as a guest Principal at BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia and the European Union Youth Orchestra, and also performs and records regularly with several world-renowned Orchestras such as the English National Opera, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, thr Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of London, Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa. 

Vera is deputy at the Junior Academy-Royal Academy of Music, and orchestral tutor at the Royal College of Music, junior department. She also gives masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire. She is a trustee and director for ESTA UK (European String Teachers Association) and has written articles for both ESTA Portugal and ESTA UK. 

After graduating with a bachelors degree in Lisbon she completed her masters degree with distinction at the Royal Academy of Music.

Vera plays a Lejeune Double bass dated 1790.
